Rainmakers meet in Greensburg
Lora Reed Williams, local attorney in Decatur County speaks with Angela Phebus at the monthly hub meeting of the Greensburg and Southeastern Indiana Rainmakers group. The group will begin meeting at the Hampton Inn on the second Thursday of every month starting in August. The meetings begin at 11:30 a.m.Rainmakers is a networking group that helps cultivate business leads and opportunities for its members. The organization in Greensburg is a collaboration between Rainmakers and the Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce and has replaced the Chamber's Networking at Noon program. All are invited to attend to learn more about the networking opportunities.

Fair time in Decatur County
Lori Durbin, Outreach Librarian for the Greensburg Public Library, is busy setting up a display at the Decatur County 4-H Fair. The fair kicks off Friday, July 10 and runs for a week. Parking in selected spaces at the fair is $2 and goes to support various civic groups. The fair is free and on Thursday of next week, visitors can enjoy rides for only 1 ticket. There are many highlights to the week, but the main focus is on that of 4-H and the youth of the county. Durbin has been with the Greensburg Public Library for 11 years and is involved in many volunteer organizations throughout the area.Kiwanis ready for the fair
The Decatur County 4-H Fair gets underway on Friday, July 10. Approximately 22 teams are registered for the event which kicks off at 10 a.m.

Lake Santee
July 4 event at Lake Santee. A full day of food with the Lake Santee Kiwanis Club cookout, swimming, boating, flea market and all capped off at dusk with a large fireworks show over the lake.

Decatur County Fair
The Decatur County 4-H Fair will run from Friday, July 10 through Friday, July 17, 2009.
The parade theme for 2009 will be "150 Years of Progress in Decatur County," following the recent 150 year celebration of Greensburg.
Traditional events will once again fill the fairgrounds including the Greensburg Power of the Past Antique Tractor Pull on Friday, July 10.
The United Midget Racing Association will be visiting the grandstands on Saturday, July 11 and on Sunday, July 12, visitors will enjoy a garden tractor pull, Vesper Services, Decatur County 4-H in Revue including the crowning of the 4-H Queen and King. Also on Sunday is the traditional 4-H Fair parade which snakes its way down Park Road to the fairgrounds, a 3 mile trip and one that is enjoyed by many.
Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Tractor Pull will be held Monday, July 13 and Tuesday will see an Open Class Farm Tractor Pull.
Wednesday, July 15 brings the ATV Flat Drags and on Thursday, July 16, the Pick Up Truck and Semi Truck drag races will be in the grandstand area of the fairgrounds.
The big attraction at the Decatur County Fair is the Demolition Derby on Friday, July 17, the closing night of the event. This bash 'em up and crash 'em up event brings the largest crowd of the week to the grandstand area. It is sure to be a good one again this year.

Rainmakers Hold Kickoff in Greensburg
Al Barnett presents Greensburg Decatur County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jennifer Sturges with the Rock at the launch event of the new Rainmakers organization in Southeastern Indiana. Rainmakers launched its newest hub in Greensburg and will serve as a means for the Chamber of Commerce Networking at Noon.
Approximately 100 visitors attended the event held at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Greensburg. Rainmakers is a business networking organization with a total of 38 hubs throughout the state of Indiana.
The Rock symbolizes a Rainmakers' effort and dedication to support the beliefs and goals of Rainmakers, which is to "Be More, Serve More."

Honda Motor Announces New President and CEO
TOKYO, Japan –Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (Honda Motor) announced that Takanobu Ito, currently the company's Senior Managing Director, will become the seventh President & Chief Executive Officer of Honda Motor effective in late June 2009.
Takeo Fukui, the current President & CEO, will remain on the board and assume the post of Director and Advisor to Honda Motor. This management succession will occur following the final decision of the Honda Motor Board of Directors after the company's annual shareholders' meeting, scheduled for late June 2009.
Ito joined Honda in 1978, and began his career in its automobile research and development operations, principally as an engineer in the area of chassis design. Ito was in charge of developing the all-aluminum uni-body frame structure for the mid-engine NSX sports car that went on sale in 1990, a world's first for a production vehicle of any volume. Ito also took on responsibilities as the person-in-charge of developing a series of compact sedans for the Japanese market in the early 1990's.
From April 1998 to March 2000, Ito was stationed in the U.S. as Executive Vice President of Honda R&D Americas, Inc., where he became actively involved in the development of the Acura brand's first sport-utility vehicle, the MDX (which went on sale in the U.S. in October 2000). In June 2000, Ito was appointed to the Board of Directors of Honda Motor, simultaneously gaining promotion to Managing Director of Honda R&D Co., Ltd. (Honda R&D). He subsequently became President and Director of Honda R&D in June 2003. Ito also took on a role in the area of manufacturing as General Manager of Honda's Suzuka Factory in April 2005. In April 2007, Ito became Honda Motor's Chief Operating Officer of Automobile Operations and a Senior Managing Director from June of the same year.
From April 2009, he will again assume the top position of President and Director of Honda R&D, a position he will continue to hold concurrently after the successful appointment as President & CEO of Honda Motor expected in late June 2009.

During the six years of Fukui's leadership, Honda was able to actively evolve its global manufacturing structure, notably the establishment of a U.S. automobile plant in Indiana and the decision to set up two manufacturing facilities - the Yorii and Ogawa plants - in Saitama, Japan. Furthermore, Fukui enabled the company to make forays into new business areas, including the establishment of both the jet engine and aircraft businesses, and making a full-scale entry into the solar cell business with Honda's original next-generation solar cell. Also under Fukui's leadership, the company continued to demonstrate its leadership in reducing CO2 emissions through both technology and product innovations.
Honda's firm commitment to reduce CO2 output on a global scale was underlined in 2006, when it announced company-wide reduction targets for CO2 emitted from its product lineups as well as from its production lines. The realization of the all-new Insight as an affordable product was an outcome of Fukui's strong guidance, based on the belief that hybrid vehicles must become accessible to more people if the technology is to contribute to reductions in CO2 output. Fukui joined Honda as an engineer in 1969, and became a member of the project team that developed the Honda CVCC (Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion) engine.
Fukui also has extensive experience in the company's motorcycle development and racing operations. In 1988, he became a member of the Honda Motor Board of Directors, subsequently assuming responsibilities as General Manager of the Suzuka Factory, President of Honda of America Mfg., Inc., President and Director of Honda R&D, and most recently, President & CEO of Honda Motor, a title he has held since June 2003.
