Democratics in action

Optimist Club serving food

Brian Wenning of the Greensburg Breakfast Optimist Club is busy getting an order ready Thursday evening at the Decatur County 4-H Fair. The Optimist Club relies heavily on money made at their food booth at the fair to support its youth projects throughout Decatur County for a year. Many Optimist and other volunteers assist at the event including cheerleaders from various schools who receive a monetary donation from the club for their assistance. The Greensburg Breakfast Optimist Club meets at 6:30 a.m. every Thursday at Something's Perkin in downtown Greensburg.

Cornerstone Christian performers

Members of a Praise Team from the Cornerstone Christian Church near St. Paul perform in front of a respectable crowd at the Decatur County 4-H Fair Thursday evening. The church is located at 7414 E. Michigan Rd., Waldron, which is just off I-74 near the St. Paul exit. All are invited for worship. For more information, call 765-525-9808.

Greensburg, IN – Christie Muckerheide Gard and her husband David recently acquired ownership of Realty Executives Maximum Results Inc. real estate business from Michelle McGinn.

First ride on the boat

Peering over the top of the rail, 10-year-old Casey Clark takes his first ever ride on Pharaoh's Boat at the Decatur County 4-H Fair Sunday evening. Clark survived the ride and couldn't wait until Thursday when all rides only costs 1 ticket.

Ready for the parade

Members of the Greensburg Youth Baseball League Minor Division Cubs baseball team helped their sponsor by throwing candy and prizes to hundreds of people watching the Decatur County 4-H Fair parade on Sunday. The parade is a staple at the Decatur County Fair.

Powell receives The Rock

Terry Powell, manager of the Buffalo Wings and Rings in Greensburg, receives the Rock award from Al Barnett of the Southeastern Indiana hub of Rainmakers. The Rock is presented to a deserving individual each month and this month Powell and his business were the recipients.

Rainmakers meet in Greensburg

Lora Reed Williams, local attorney in Decatur County speaks with Angela Phebus at the monthly hub meeting of the Greensburg and Southeastern Indiana Rainmakers group. The group will begin meeting at the Hampton Inn on the second Thursday of every month starting in August. The meetings begin at 11:30 a.m.

Rainmakers is a networking group that helps cultivate business leads and opportunities for its members. The organization in Greensburg is a collaboration between Rainmakers and the Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce and has replaced the Chamber's Networking at Noon program. All are invited to attend to learn more about the networking opportunities.

Fair time in Decatur County

Lori Durbin, Outreach Librarian for the Greensburg Public Library, is busy setting up a display at the Decatur County 4-H Fair. The fair kicks off Friday, July 10 and runs for a week. Parking in selected spaces at the fair is $2 and goes to support various civic groups. The fair is free and on Thursday of next week, visitors can enjoy rides for only 1 ticket. There are many highlights to the week, but the main focus is on that of 4-H and the youth of the county. Durbin has been with the Greensburg Public Library for 11 years and is involved in many volunteer organizations throughout the area.

Kiwanis ready for the fair

The Decatur County 4-H Fair gets underway on Friday, July 10. The fair runs until the following Friday. Many visitors enjoy going through the various buildings looking at displays from 4-H'ers and registering for prizes from area merchants.

Bill Humpert from Renner Hurley Honda Motors in Greensburg, takes a practice shot while at the Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce annual golf outing Wednesday. Renner Hurley Honda sponsored a hole-in-one contest on hole No. 5 on the Meadows course. A few of the participants came close to scoring a new Honda by hitting a hole-in-one, but it was not meant to be at this year's tournament.

Chamber golf outing

The Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce annual golf outing will be held Wednesday, July 8 at North Branch Golf Course.

Approximately 22 teams are registered for the event which kicks off at 10 a.m.
